Toy2R 5in Mini Qee DIY series: FULL reveal of 7 designs + video

The complete crew is made up of Toy2R's iconic BEAR and BUNEE character as well as the our mascot, the TOYER. Joining them in the release are MON, KITKAT, PIGEE and SPRAYEE!! The seven make up the complete DIY collection that will be dropping in February. Each 5" scale Qee comes with easily removeable Head and Arms making customizing a breeze!
While this is the first time that these characters will be released in the new smaller scale - Sprayee is one of the more sought after pieces. With a Spray Head, this is only the second time this character has been released in DIY form (the first being the 3.5" Baby Qee scale). And just like its younger and smaller cousin, when you shake Sprayee, you'll hear the classic spray can sound - making this a must for graffiti fans and artists!

Fans and collectors should note that the very first chance to pick up one of these new scale Qees will be during Toy2R's NYC Loves QEE event being held at Yoyamart on February 14th. There will be a limited quantity available for purchase during the show - so swing by and snag these before anyone else!

Monster Bossy Bear 5-inch Kaiju assortment

Bossy Bear, the demanding character from the mind of David Horvath, has transmutated into the 5” Strange Beast Bossy Bear- or as witnesses have dubbed him – Monster Bossy Bear!

Altering from his earlier form into a higher state – that of the Kaiju form – Bossy Bear is now more formidable than ever. As part of Toy2R’s scheduled releases for 2011, the Monster Bossy Bear Assortment will delight fans of both the classic form and new fans of his Kaiju inspired look.

Two versions will be released in the assortment – the Classic Blue and the Roseus (or Pink) edition. Fans should be on the look out for variant versions within the assortment as one can never be sure what mood Bossy will be in.

The alert has been posted, the news has been spread…Bossy Bear…Monster Bossy Bear is on the loose and heading towards you. Capture him if you can but do not try to contain him, for he is Bossy Bear!

**Special preview of the figures will take place at Yoyamart during the Feb 14th NYC Loves QEE Event....don't miss it!

Trains of Fame show in Paris: opening night video!

Okay, most of you don't know this but I've traveled all around Europe, been to Paris probably 5 or 6 times, among many other cities. But that was when I was traveling on my parent's dime, and we did touristy-type stuff like visiting les musees et le Tour Eiffel, Pompidou, Notre Dame, etc. It was very fun, Paris is a great city, and it broadened my horizons and all that.  blah blah blah

But now that I'm a big boy, and I am in contact with all these awesome graf/toy/artsy people over in Europe, here's what I REALLY wanna do next time I'm in Paris:

Valentine's Day gift: I Heart Guts Humongous Heart

Just arrived from I Heart Guts is this much-enlarged 11-inch tall version of their extremely popular Heart plush. I Heart Guts makes plushies that are actually in the shape, approximate size and sort-of general color scheme of each organ in your body (I think they take a few liberties with the colors to make them brighter). Their Heart plush consistently sells out in our shop and they've recently reworked that plush to enlarge it (no longer is it actual size; the new Humongous Heart is about twice as big as a healthy human heart!).
The best part about this new version is it's actually LESS expensive (by $1) than the old version: $18 for an 11-inch plush heart. This version even has some heavier material in the bottom so it wants to stand up in the proper way. The Humongous Heart makes an excellent abnd affordable gift for your special someone on Valentine's Day. Don't you want to show them how humongous your love is for them? Buy yours here.

The Sucklord gets all intimate on TRE

"Not to sound corny, but the opening is felt like that old cliche about heaven, where you get there and all the people you ever loved are all in the room, together, celebrating your life. That made me happy."

Huge props to Andy from ToysREvil for this really rare and frank interview with the Super Sucklord, who currently has a retrospective solo show at the Boo-Hooray Gallery in Chelsea.
Click thru to the gallery's website for info on how to get there.

The Sucklord is talking about his feelings? And he has a mom? You better read this interview because I really don't think you'll ever again get this much insight into the guy behind the Vectar mask.

Jeff Soto's The Seeker (Green "Earth" Version)

We now have the opportunity to get Jeff Soto's The Seeker in the Green "Earth" colorway- email us if you want one. This giant vinyl figure stands 11" tall and measures 8.5" from horn tip to horn tip.
4 color window box with artwork by Jeff Soto. 13.5" x 9.5" x5".
Price is $100, made by Bigshot Toyworks.

The Seeker...one of the most anticipated vinyl figures of the past two years is finally available!

Based on a recurring character in the paintings of Jeff Soto, these figures have been more than two years in development. Jeff's work is in high-demand all over the world and through his solo exhibitions at Jonathan Levine Gallery and huge wall murals at Art Basel Miami, Jeff's profile as an artist is growing by leaps and bounds.

The body, arms, and legs of The Seeker are rotation molded vinyl, while the horns are injection molded ABS plastic. Each figure maintains a simplistic look and feel to keep the simple grace of the character's appearances in Jeff's paintings, but still required a rather complicated paint application to decorate and accentuate the detail in the sculpt.

5" Mini Qees - The Next Generation Of Fun!

The first 10 years were just the beginning. Welcome to the next generation in the evolution of Qee as the launch of the 5" Mini Qee DIY Series starts 2011 and the Year of Qee!

Seven of your favorite Qee characters come to life in this new and exciting scale including the MON and TOYER Versions, making it even easier to join the world of DIY and custom art figures. Today's sneak peek is of our iconic TOYER figure, now in 5" Mini Qee format. With articulated arms and head (easy to remove, making it easier for customizing) the Mini Qees are fun and full of possibilities!

Originally launched with last year's Pumpkie Mini Qee and Jon-Paul Kaiser's Samurai Pumpkin, collectors and fans will see new artists editions released throughout the year as well.

This release is just one of the many projects planned for 2011 as Toy2R celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Qee brand. If you thought you knew Qees, think again, as Qee redefines the DIY platform genre once again in 2011, The Year of Qee.

Welcome to the Qeevolution...

Hang on, the ride is just beginning!

You can follow Toy2R Qees on Facebook, and DEFINITELY keep watching our blog as we are planning some special projects with these new Qees!

NOTHING 8in DIY & Shadow figures

NOTHING TOY, originally uploaded by nothing studio.
We get a lot of random emails from factories in China, but this one is worth sharing: a new (?) DIY toy called "Nothing" from Nothing Studios in China. I don't know much more about them, besides the fact that this figure is 20cm (8 inches) tall, comes with a drawstring bag and they want me to buy some. Nothing Studios has a Flickr page and a blog. Below is the "Shadow" figure which comes with the same drawstring bag, but it's FURRY!
I like this sculpt a lot. What's everyone else think?
Update: DIY white version is limited to 200 pieces, and cost is $30.
Shadow version is limited to 20 pieces and cost is $70.
Email us if you want some of these; we will be ordering soon.

Squib plush squids by Squid Kids Ink

Squid Kids Ink has a new line of plushes called "Squibs":

Prepare for "Hugs of Death"!!
These full size Squibs are ready to love you till you die. Designed by Squid Kids Ink. They are made with high quality materials to ensure that they are very soft, cuddly, yet deadly. The 1st wave is limited, but a larger invasion is imminent.

There are 3 different versions: Happy Gray Squib (left), Grumpy Red Squib (center) and Confused Black Squib (right).

2 things I love about this lineup:
#1 is that these cute plushies come in 3 different versions: regular (17 inches long), mini (9.5 inches long) and in the form of 17 inch purses with a 3-foot adjustable strap!
#2 is the price point: the regular Squib plushes and the Squib purses retail for just $20, and the minis are just $10! Now THOSE are some great prices!

As always, we can get any or all of these products for you so email us or leave a comment if you are interested.
You can follow Squid Kids Ink on their website, blog or Facebook.

Suckadelic Solo Show Jan 11th at Boo-Hooray Gallery

YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE FOR BUYING THIS: The SUCKADELIC Art Toy Universe

Website: boo-hooray.com/suckadelic

The Boo-Hooray Gallery reluctantly announces the first SUCKADELIC retrospective gallery exhibition. Intentionally confusing, misleading, disappointing and really funny, these limited edition parodies of action figures reverberate with a vicious wit and are oddly eyeball-pleasing in the manner of all kinds of toothsome 20th/21st century collage and montage art.

The toys and their aggressively situationist piss-take packaging comment on pop culture commodification and the consumer habits of compulsively shopping kidults: The very process that made KAWS, Takashi Murakami, and Michael Lau art-stars on the Art Basel Miami/Armory Show/Venice Biennale tip.

One of the most respected despised and influential figures in the art toy movement for the past decade, the SUCKLORD has been producing handmade bootleg action figures in very limited runs, each selling out immediately. As the plot thickens, the work of the SUCKLORD is widely collected in fine art circles, and has been auctioned at Christie’s, Freeman's and Phillips.

This exhibition marks the first time the entire SUCKADELIC catalogue will be exhibited in one place. For the duration of the exhibit, a SUCKADELIC SUCK-SHOPPE pop-up store will be open. Original artwork, sculptures, silk- screens and paintings will also be for sale.

The work presented in this exhibit is a documentation of my struggle to reach the top of a sinister pyramid scheme; A culture-jacking enterprise where ruthless-yet-compelling super-criminals compete for the imaginations of fickle consumers and a relentless media machine.

- Excerpt from the SUCKLORD's artist statement

The 100 page exhibition catalogue will be available as a limited edition of 500 numbered copies. A deluxe signed limited edition catalogue of 50 copies with an exclusively created SUCKADELIC figure will also be available.

If you show up on opening night, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the characters from the SUCKADELIC Universe. We can not guarantee a pleasant experience: the SUCKLORD, his nemesis Vectar the Intolerable and their cast of super-villains don’t really get along and have been prone to serious falling-outs, resulting in laser gun- battles and sulking.

The exhibition is curated by Johan Kugelberg and Simeon Lipman.
